The List

I don't make New Year resolutions. it's too easy to make resolutions and break them. Then there's the whole guilt thing around that. So I make a list of things I would like to do in a year and try and do them. If I get an item on the list done, cool. If not, still cool. Maybe next year. The main aim

Below is the list for 2014:

  4. Make more beer
  5. Learn to code
  6. Make a computer game with my son
  7. Bake more bread
  8. Have more braais / BBQs
  9. Teach more people to pronounce rooibos correctly

  13. Make at least one audio or video blog entry

I am not elaborating on them in this post as I will probably blog about all of these over the year.

What items are on your list? Should I add anything to mine?

Silent Sunday 19/01/2014

Welcome to Crash Test Daddy!

While preparing to become a dad over four years ago I thought I would start a blog to record all the fun of being a dad and pass on any tips to other dads. Four years on, I have finally decided to take the plunge and start this blog!

My second child is currently brewing, my four year old son is a micro whirlwind, and life is pretty hectic in general. Oh, and we're looking to move house. And that's just when I'm not at work!

Now is the perfect time to start a new blog! Right?

So, why am I doing this? In short, just for fun. I love being a father. I'm also a bit of a geek. When I do something fun, learn something, or think something is cool, I want to tell other people about it. So here, dear reader, is where all of that will be recorded for ever more.

One final reason for writing this, I told my son I was going to start writing down all the fun things he and I do together so others can read about them. He said "Go for it daddy". Encouragement enough!
